From the Farmer's Daughter
Hello everyone, it’s nice to have a chance (and many more!) to talk to all of you. I think an introduction is in order.
Some of you know me already from our years at the Mahtomedi Farmers Market. I’ve helped out there most weeks and I love getting a chance to chat with everyone – something that will be a little harder to do now. Outside of the farm, I’ve blended together the backgrounds of both my parents – I studied physics (like Dad) and have an off-farm job teaching (like Mom) astronomy at a museum.
Like Dad mentioned in our last post, the farm is taking up more time as we strive to provide healthy foods to as many of you as we can. To give him more time to do that, and to stay more connected with you, I’ll be doing what I can to communicate frequently with all of you.
Right now on the farm, it’s a time of new life. We’ve been blessed in the last couple of months to have had many healthy calves born. It has been a joy to watch them frolicking in the pastures. Although, they can scare us when they take naps – they’re so small they disappear into the grass! It’s not just animals that are coming alive, the fields and pastures are too. As grass and hay start to grow, we’re gearing up for a busy summer season.
Hopefully we’ll see some of you at the markets soon – keeping a safe distance of a highland cow length!
Be safe, help each other, and live well.
Talk to you soon,
The Daughter of the Guy with the Hat
